What Bangalore's New SEO Pages Have Taught Us So Far

The Question We Get Asked Most
“How long until we see results?” is the first question almost every Bengaluru business asks about local SEO, and it is usually followed by a second one nobody says out loud: is this actually working, or did we just spend money on pages Google is ignoring? We have been running our own area-by-area SEO pages since early September, so instead of answering in generalities, here is what the data from our own pages actually shows.
Indexing Is Fast. Ranking Is Not the Same Thing.
Our first three area pages — Koramangala, Indiranagar, Whitefield — went live on 10 September and were confirmed indexed within three days of a Request Indexing submission. The next three — HSR Layout, Electronic City, Malleshwaram — went live on 18 September and were indexed the same day, the fastest turnaround of any page we have shipped. Indexing, in other words, is not the bottleneck it is sometimes made out to be, at least once a page is genuinely built to be crawled.
Ranking is a different clock entirely. In the weeks since launch, the three original pages have shown single-digit impressions each so far — Koramangala sitting around position 5 on its target terms, Indiranagar and Whitefield still in the high 20s to low 30s. The three newer pages, indexed and clean, still show zero impressions of their own nearly two weeks after going live. That is not a technical problem. It is what building demand from nothing actually looks like before it looks like anything.
Where the Demand Is Actually Going Right Now
The more useful thing the data shows is where searches for these areas are landing today. For HSR Layout, real search volume exists — “digital marketing agency in hsr layout” and its variants pull double-digit impressions a month — but almost all of it is still going to our general HSR Layout location page, not the newer, more specific SEO services page for HSR Layout. The demand is real. The new page simply has not caught up to it yet, and there is no shortcut for that beyond time and continued signal.
This is also the honest answer to whether the new pages are cannibalising anything — they are not, because right now they are barely capturing traffic at all, from the location pages or anywhere else. If that changes, it will show up in the same data we are reading today.
A Page Getting Stuck Is Not Always the Page’s Fault
One data point that surprised us: our own `/services/` hub page — no area name attached, just the general services page — sat in Google’s “Discovered, currently not indexed” queue for six weeks, from mid-August until late September, despite returning a normal page, the right `index, follow` instruction, a correct canonical tag, and a place in our sitemap the whole time. Nothing was technically wrong with it. It simply had not been prioritised for a crawl, and the fix was a second, deliberate Request Indexing submission through Search Console, not a code change.
The lesson generalises: if a page on your own site looks fine and still is not indexed after a few weeks, check the obvious technical causes first, and if none of them apply, do not assume it is broken. Sometimes a page just needs to be asked for again.
What We Are Actually Watching
- Whether the newer three pages start capturing any of the demand currently going to their location pages — the real test, not just whether they are indexed.
- Whether the hub pages hold their own positions as more specific geo pages are added underneath them — the gate we check before building anything further.
- Whether this pattern repeats as we extend the same approach to website development across the same six areas.
If you are running a local SEO push of your own and the early numbers look thin, that is usually the process working on the timeline it actually runs on, not a sign to panic or start over. We wrote about the other side of this same discipline — when a dedicated area page is worth building at all — in do you need a separate page for every Bangalore neighbourhood. Our SEO team works through both questions with businesses across Bengaluru.
